The Workshop

Students will study various techniques and studies appropriate for beginning guitarists.Students will learn compositions, strumming and fingering technique, and strengthen their rhythm and compás. Students will study various techniques and studies appropriate to the workshop level.
Choreographies and studies are the original work of the artists/teachers, and students learn flamenco through the experience and unique abilities that these master artists/teachers bring to their work. Workshops consist of six (6) hours of instruction over the course of seven (7) days, June 22-28. Instructors generally do not teach on the day of their scheduled performance. Tati Amaya will not teach on June 22. This workshop is full. Please call or email to be placed on a waitlist.

Tati Amaya

L. Santiago Tati Amaya is a guitarist, composer, and the grandnephew of the brilliant dancer Carmen Amaya. 

He began his career at age 12 in the flamenco company of his parents, dancer Mercedes Amaya “La Winy” and guitarist Santiago Aguilar. He has composed music for performances at many festivals in the Americas, Asia, and Europe, including Festival Mont de Marsan and Festival Flamenco Alburquerque, where he has shared the bill with great artists such as Manuela Carrasco, Farruquito, Israel Galván, Antonio Canales, Manolo Soler, Familia Farruco, María Pagés, and others. He has collaborated with artists such as Gerardo Nuñez and Dani de Morón, and participated in his sister Karime Amaya’s performance La Fuente, which also featured Antonio Rey, Mara Rey, Juañares, El Bola, and Paco de Mode. Tati Amaya is the current musical director of Gran Gala Flamenco Barcelona together with Juan Gómez “Chicuelo.”
