About
THE WORKSHOP
In the Juvenil Danza Estilizada classes, students will learn choreography and technique in the Danza Estilizada vocabulary. Choreographies are the original work of the artists/teachers, and students learn dance through the experience and unique abilities that these master artists/teachers bring to their work.
Danza Estilizada Española consists of composed steps and choreographies based on the movement vocabulary from popular and classical Spanish dance. Danza Estilizada Española is highly theatrical and artistic in its interpretation, and utilizes the music of many of Spain’s great composers of the 18th and 19th centuries. Danza Estilizada Española builds upon knowledge of classical dance (ballet), Escuela Bolera, flamenco, Spanish folk dance, and castanets. Training in castanets is vital for the dancer of this genre. Castanets, castañuelas, or palillos are used to enrich the movement and music of this dance form.
Festival Juvenil is the youth component of Festival Flamenco Alburquerque. This program is part of FFABQ 39 as the premier national flamenco camp for experienced young flamenco dancers ages 10-15. Students will take exclusive Festival Juvenil classes together as part of a cohort, taught by Festival guest artists. Each Festival Juvenil workshop meets six (6) times over the course of seven (7) days, June 20-26. Instructors generally do not teach on the day of their scheduled performance.
Jesús Hinojosa will not teach Thursday, June 25.
