THE WORKSHOP

In dance classes, choreography and technique will be taught. Workshop choreographies are set to various palos (song forms and rhythms). Choreographies are the original work of the artists/teachers, and students learn flamenco through the experience and unique abilities that these master artists/teachers bring to their work.

Workshops consist of six (6) hours of instruction over the course of seven (7) days, June 20-26. Instructors generally do not teach on the day of their scheduled performance.

Aitana Rousseau will not teach on Thursday, June 25.

Aitana Rousseau

Aitana Rousseau, a flamenco dancer from Sevilla, has mesmerized audiences worldwide with her artistry and dedication to the craft. Her flamenco journey began at a young age, rooted in the rich traditions of Andalucia, and has since flourished into an illustrious career.

Rousseau has performed on prestigious stages, including the Teatro Flamenco Málaga and international festivals such as the Festival de Jerez, Festival de Flamenco de Londres, and Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas. She has also collaborated with prominent flamenco artists, notably appearing in David Coria’s acclaimed production Los Bailes Robados at the Théâtre de Chaillot in Paris.

In addition to her performance career, Rousseau is a passionate educator. She conducts workshops and masterclasses worldwide, focusing on both technical excellence and the cultural heritage of flamenco. Her teaching approach inspires students to connect deeply with the art form while fostering a sense of community and personal expression.

She is committed to using flamenco as a tool for social inclusion, participating in programs that empower individuals through the transformative power of dance. These initiatives promote self-expression and cultural connection, ensuring flamenco’s relevance across diverse communities.
