Juan Campallo
Juan Campallo started playing flamenco guitar at the early age of 6 with his brother Mariano Campallo, and training with several guitarists such as Jaime Burgos, Miguel Perez among others. At age 14 he began to play for dancers with his brother Rafael and sister Adela Campallo, making his way in the field, playing for countless dancers such as Pastora Galván, Antonio Molina “El Choro,” Mercedes de Córdoba, María Moreno, Patricia Guerrero, Ana Morales, Gema Moneo; and for great figures and teachers such as Antonio Canales, Merche Esmeralda, Juana Amaya, Javier Barón, Manuela Carrasco, Milagros Menjibar, Manolo Marín, José Galván, etc. He has accompanied singers such as José Valencia, Enrique “El Extremeño,” Pepe de Pura, Jeromo Segura, Encarna Anillo, José Anillo, and others. In 2004 and 2006 he participated as a soloist in the cycle of young promises of the Bienal de Sevilla. In 2007 he won the prestigious award of the Festival de las Minas de la Unión, El Bordón Minero, which led him to combine his work as accompanying guitarist with the soloist in various festivals around the world.
He has developed as a composer, with creations for shows such as: Una moneda de dos caras by Antonio Canales; Baronia and Encuentro en el Baluarte by Javier Barón; Campellerias, 7 de Mayo, Horizante, Puente Triana, and Sangre, for Rafael and Adela Campallo; Aviso: Bayle de Gitanos by Antonio Molina “El Choro”; and Bailando una vida by Milagros Mengíbar, Ana María Bueno, Manolo Marín, and José Galván under the artistic direction of Rubén Olmo, the production of which garnered the Giraldillo Ciudad de Sevilla 2016 prize.
