About
Juan Campallo
Juan Campallo began his flamenco guitar career at the early age of 12, accompanying his older siblings, Rafael Campallo and Adela Campallo, in their dance. With his family, he has performed on stages across the world from Tokyo to New York City. He has played in many flamenco festivals including the Bienal de Flamenco, the Festival de Jerez, and Mont de Marsans. In 2006 he was part of the companies of Antonio Canales and Javier Barón. In 2007 he was awarded the prestigious “Bordón Minero” prize at the Festival de la Union Cante de las Minas, which recognized Juan Campallo as one of the best solo guitarists in flamenco. While Campallo’s style occupies a space somewhere in between traditional and new forms, it always remains technically impeccable and artistically moving.
