THE WORKSHOP
In this percussion class students will learn techniques for playing the cajón (percussion box) for various flamenco palos (song forms and rhythms). Students will learn or refine their awareness of rhythmic patterning, time and “swing” (soniquete) in this course. A cajón is required for this course.
Workshops consist of six (6) hours of instruction over the course of seven (7) days, June 20-26. Instructors generally do not teach on the day of their scheduled performance. Javier Teruel will not teach on Thursday, June 25.

Javier Teruel
Javier Teruel is a percussionist versed in flamenco, jazz, pop, and salsa. He has collaborated with renowned artists such as Lole Montoya, El Negri, Makarines, and Alba Molina, and can also be heard on recordings by Spanish pop artists including Vanesa Martín, Pastora Soler, and David de María.
Javier Teruel is currently part of the Lola and Vivaldi Flamenco shows, continuing to showcase his versatility and dynamic artistry on stage.
