THE WORKSHOP

In dance classes, choreography and technique will be taught. Workshop choreographies are set to various palos (song forms and rhythms). Choreographies are the original work of the artists/teachers, and students learn flamenco through the experience and unique abilities that these master artists/teachers bring to their work. Workshops consist of six (6) hours of instruction over the course of seven (7) days, June 20-26. Instructors generally do not teach on the day of their scheduled performance.

Ricardo Fernández “El Tete”

Born into a Roma family in Sant Roc, Badalona (Barcelona); younger brother of the dancer “El Yiyo”, Ricardo Fernández “El Tete” thrills audiences with passion and innate talent in his flamenco dancing. At just 25 years old, he has performed with legendary artists, consecrating his place in the flamenco experience. José Maya and Farruquito are just some of the greats who heavily influenced the development of this young dancer. “El Tete” shares with not only a physical resemblance with his brother, “El Yiyo,” but also important stature as part today’s new figures of flamenco. The brothers from Badalona have presented the show Flamenco de sangre at the Teatro Apolo in Barcelona, touring several cities in Portugal and Spain, as well as the performance Jubileo.
