About

The Workshop

In this percussion class students will learn techniques for playing the cajón (percussion box) for various flamenco palos (song forms and rhythms). Students will learn or refine their awareness of rhythmic patterning, time, and “swing” (soniquete) in this course. A cajón is required for this course.

Choreographies and studies are the original work of the artists/teachers, and students learn flamenco through the experience and unique abilities that these master artists/teachers bring to their work. Workshops consist of six (6) hours of instruction over the course of seven (7) days, June 21-27. Instructors generally do not teach on the day of their scheduled performance. Carlos Merino will not teach on June 25.
