About
The Workshop
In dance classes, choreography and technique will be taught. Workshop choreographies are set to various palos (song forms and rhythms). Choreographies are the original work of the artists/teachers, and students learn flamenco through the experience and unique abilities that these master artists/teachers bring to their work.
Workshops consist of six (6) hours of instruction over the course of seven (7) days, June 21-27. Instructors generally do not teach on the day of their scheduled performance. Alfonso Losa will not teach on June 23.

Alfonso Losa
Alfonso Losa is the foremost representative of the Madrid school of flamenco dance, serving as a vital bridge between his mentors and new generations. At the height of his artistic maturity, he has crafted a unique language that conveys the essence of traditional flamenco while integrating the innovative codes of contemporary dance, a field in which he is a leading figure.
Losa harmonizes the austerity, verticality, and elegance of the Madrid style with breathtaking rhythm and exceptional physical control. He is often described as “the most classical of the contemporaries and the most contemporary of the classics.”
His talent has been recognized with prestigious awards such as “El Desplante” (Festival de La Unión) and Best Dancer at the Certamen de Danza Española y Flamenco de Madrid. Esteemed artists like Enrique Morente, Tomatito, Gerardo Núñez, and Montse Cortés have sought his collaboration on stage.
In 2021, he premiered Flamenco: Espacio Creativo at Suma Flamenca (Teatros del Canal), directed by Rafael Estévez and Valeriano Paños. This groundbreaking performance marked a milestone in his career, earning the Critics’ Prize at the Festival de Jerez in 2022 and being showcased at major festivals and venues, including the Bienal de Flamenco in Seville, Teatro Piccolo in Milan, La Villette in Paris, and Théâtre de Nîmes.
As a teacher, Alfonso draws students and masters from around the world, drawn by his commitment to the immutable truths of arte jondo (deep flamenco). Rejecting fleeting trends, he creates new frameworks without dismantling tradition, building with authenticity and integrity.
Alfonso Losa dances as he is: raw, elegant, and profoundly connected to flamenco’s roots and future.
