Join us at the Guild Cinema Saturday, June 27 from 1:30pm to 7:00pm for Flamenco en el Cine!

This mini film festival showcases iconic flamenco films, including Roser Corella’s documentary about pathbreaking dancer Manuel Liñán, a Carmen Amaya classic, and Tony Gatlif’s newest feature film.

This event is free and open to the public, and was produced with support from the Bernalillo County Film Office.

Rojo Clavel • Director Roser Corella

Rojo Clavel explores the journey of flamenco dancer Manuel Liñán as he takes the stage in search of the freedom to be truly himself. The film is not merely a celebration of flamenco as an art form; it is a profound exploration of the universal need to connect, free from fear and taboos.

Starring the great Carmen Amaya. An exiled famous painter returns to Spain under a false name, to meet his half Roma daughter, who has become a flamenco dancer. He offers her his house, stirring up rumors.

Ange, an unattached musician, feels the vital need to find and make peace with his old friend Marco. Soleá, the rebellious daughter of Ange’s old flame, joins him on his journey. Together, they find their way back to joy.
