Florencia O’Ryan Zúñiga, known artistically as Florencia Oz, was born in Santiago de Chile in 1987. At age sixteen, she began her flamenco studies. At age twenty, she moved to Sevilla to train at the Manuel Betanzos School where she studied under Andrés Peña, Adela Campallo, and Rafael Campallo. Later at the Fundación Christina Heeren she studied with the great Milagros Menjíbar and Javier Barón.

In 2013, she began performing in the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía. Under the direction of Rafaela Carrasco, she performed as a soloist in En la memoria del cante 1922, and in the corps de ballet in Imágenes and Tierra Lorca, Cancionero Popular. She continued dancing with Rafela Carrasco’s company for two more years in Nacida Sombra, which received the critics’ award at the 22nd edition of the Festival de Jerez. Oz danced in Lorca y la pasión, un mar de sueños under the artistic direction of Eva Yerbabuena in 2019. She has been a member of David Coria’s company since 2016. In 2021, she premiered Antípodas at the 25th edition of the Festival de Jerez. She also performs in tablaos such as Las Carboneras, Los Gallos, and El Arenal.

Among Oz’s recognitions are the Artist Revelation Prize at the 25th Festival de Jerez (2021); the National Flamenco Art Award (2019); First Prize for Solo Choreography, Prize for Original Music for Dance, and Carlota Santana New York Prize at the 28th Choreographic Contest of Spanish Dance and Flamenco in Madrid (2019); First Prize for Dance in the Concurso Nacional Baile por Alegrías, La Perla de Cádiz (2015).

Chilean cellist, singer, and composer now based in Spain, Isidora O’Ryan, has been exploring various musical projects for more than fifteen years, in chamber ensembles, orchestras, and as a soloist. She has ventured into the language of free improvisation, contemporary music, classical and popular music, and interdisciplinary projects.

As a cellist, she trained since 2006 at the University of Chile with the teachers Roberto Gonzalez and Cristian Peralta, obtaining with maximum distinction the title of Performer with a mention in Violoncello in 2015. O’Ryan studied Butoh with teachers such as Makiko Tomonaga and Minako Seki and was part of the Chilean company Ruta de la Memoria for over eight years.

She is currently part of I.O., her solo project that mixes distinctive electronic and classical sounds. In March 2020, she released her debut album Ciénaga, and won the Artista Revelación award at the Indigo Awards. She composes, produces, and performs in the indie, pop, and electronic band Los Tristes and in the ensemble Xatarra.
