About
The Workshop
This class will look briefly at the three main components of flamenco – cante, baile, and toque, and the contributions of respected artists throughout history to each of these elements. Students will examine recent historical research into the African, Latin American and Romani contributions to the art of flamenco, including Dr. Williams’ dissertation and upcoming book on the Romani blacksmiths of 16th century Triana. Lastly the workshops will discuss the current international flamenco scene, including some of the innovative practitioners in this year’s festival. Dr. Williams will not teach on date TBD.
Workshops consist of six (6) hours of instruction over the course of seven (7) days, June 21-27. Instructors generally do not teach on the day of their scheduled performance.
Schedules, artists, and pricing on all FFABQ 38 programming subject to change.
