About

The SHOW

Liturgia is a flamenco performance inspired by the rich heritage of Andalusia’s religious and cultural rituals, shaped by centuries of diverse influences from the Mediterranean and beyond. It explores the evolution of Andalusian Christian liturgy in the 18th century, its golden age of music, and the connection between sacred and popular traditions, such as saetas and tonás, which later shaped flamenco’s iconic *cante jondo*.

Drawing on insights from scholars like Gerhard Steingress and Turina, the performance highlights how medieval liturgical music—from Mozarabic and Gregorian chants to Byzantine and Andalusian styles—served as a foundation for the creation of flamenco’s unique sound.

This immersive audiovisual experience unfolds in two independent yet interconnected parts: *La Palabra* and *El Pan & El Vino*. Performed in extraordinary venues, *Liturgia* merges the sacred and the sensory, inviting audiences to participate in a transformative journey.
