ABOUT THE COMPETITIONS
New this year, Festival Flamenco Alburquerque is proud to offer Puentes Flamencos and Plataformas Profesionales: juried performance pathways for student ensembles and professional artists. These programs invite participants to step forward, be seen, and share their work on a professional stage through high-level performance experiences that emphasize artistry, discipline, and growth. Artists gain meaningful visibility, mentorship, and recognition while connecting with the festival’s vibrant artistic community. Plataformas Profesionales features two distinct tracks for advanced and professional artists: Concurso de Tablao and Certamen Coreográfico.

PUENTES FLAMENCOS
FOR SCHOOLS & TRAINING INSTITUTIONS
Puentes Flamencos is a juried showcase and scholarship pathway for schools and training institutions. Student ensembles gather at FFABQ to share work, build community, and gain visibility within the Festival.
Who May Apply
School- or academy-directed student groups traveling with a teacher/director may apply for Puentes Flamencos.
Ages 11+ · Group size up to 20.
Fees
Application Fee: $35 per group
Finalist Fee: Additional $50 per group
How It Works
Submit Application
Pay the fee and submit the application form, including your video submission (3–5 minutes, wide shot, no edits), roster of dancers, music tracks, and director contact information.

Selection of Finalists
Judges will select up to 15 finalist groups.
↓
Finalist Performance
Those finalists will perform at Puentes Flamencos on Wednesday, June 24 at 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM (Location TBD).

Selection of Winners
Judges will select winners for the Puentes Flamencos group award, and award scholarships to select individual performers across finalist groups.

Festival Feature
The winning group will perform in Fiesta Flamenca, FFABQ’s closing gala performance, on Friday, June 26 at 8:00 PM at the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC).
Awards + Scholarships
• The winning group will perform in Fiesta Flamenca, FFABQ’s closing gala performance, on Friday, June 26 at 8:00 PM at the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC).
• The finalist groups will get recognition on FFABQ’s digital platforms.
• Select performers across finalist groups will be awarded scholarships.
Additional Finalists Benefits
The following additional benefits are available to finalists upon request:
• 1x voucher redeemable for a theatre ticket OR a $100 credit toward a full ticket package
• 2x drop-in class vouchers per finalist OR a $110 credit toward a 6-day workshop.
Group Discount Policy
School, studio, and teacher-led student groups participating in FFABQ are eligible for special discounts on Festival workshops, workshop passes, ticket packages, and retail items. The discounts are as follows:
• Students: 3–10 students = $75 off per student
• Students: 11+ students = $125 off per student
• Teacher/Director credit = $75 FFABQ credit per registered student
These discounts are valid January 1 – June 26, 2026 for festival-controlled purchases (workshops/passes/packages/retail).
How To Enter
1. Pay the application fee here.
2. Complete and submit the application with the required information before the deadline on March 27.
3. Finalists will be announced on April 3 and receive instructions for music/tech deliverables and call times.
4. Finalists will need to confirm participation by April 10 and once confirmed, invitation letters will be issued.
5. The final music, roster, and tech deliverables will be due on May 10.
6. All finalists will be required to attend a mandatory orientation via Zoom on May 20.
CONCURSO DE TABLAO
FOR ADVANCED & PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS
A high-prestige tablao contest that tests real tablao competence: compás, structure, communication, and professionalism without rehearsal.
Who May Apply
Advanced-level and professional dancers ages 18+ with experience in tablao performances may apply for Concurso de Tablao.
About the Concurso
The Concurso de Tablao will take place on Monday, June 22 at 10:30 PM at Tablao Flamenco Albuquerque – featuring 4–5 finalists, live musicians provided (no rehearsal), and a strict 12-minute maximum performance time.

Application Fee: $35 per entry (per track)
Finalist Fee: Additional $50 per finalist

Finalist Performance – The Concurso
Finalists will perform live at Tablao Flamenco Albuquerque on Monday, June 22 at 10:30 PM, with live musicians provided (no rehearsal) and a strict 12-minute maximum performance time. Finalists must be prepared to perform one of two submitted tablao-ready solos. The Artistic Director determines which option is performed on the night.

Judges will select a 1st and 2nd place winner.
Awards
• 1st: $1,000 cash + paid engagement at Tablao Flamenco Albuquerque (2026/27 season)
• 2nd: $500 cash + paid engagement consideration at Tablao Flamenco Albuquerque (2026/27 season)
• Additional partner performance opportunities may be offered as available.

CERTAMEN COREOGRÁFICO
FOR ADVANCED & PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS
A juried platform for a new or substantially revised choreographic work created for the theater stage (escena), for artists at a professional or very advanced level.
Who May Apply
Advanced-level and professional artists with new or substantially revised choreographic works for solo, duo, or small groups may apply for the Certamen Coreográfico. Artists must be of professional level and provide their own music.
About Certamen Coreográfico
The Certamen Coreográfico will take place on Wednesday, June 24 at 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM (Location TBD) – featuring up to 8 finalists, open to solo, duo, and small group works (recommended cap of 4 performers), with a recommended performance length of 6–8 minutes and a 10-minute maximum, and music provided by the artists (recorded track or self-provided musicians).
