About

Viaje al centro de mí mismo

The Málaga guitarist Francisco Vinuesa invites us on a passionate interior epic to the very center of his creations, aboard his six-stringed vessel. Profoundly flamenco in its aim: to find truth in the smallest shard of a rasgueo.

In Viaje al Centro de Mi Mismo (Journey to the Center of Myself), Vinuesa turns the accompanist role he is best known for inside out. Drawing on years of traveling with artists and companies, the work places him as the principal voice, using the guitar as a compass for an interior itinerary.

The program unfolds as a sequence of musical “stations”: dense rhythmic passages, quieter fields of sound, and exchanges in which cante and percussion provide counterpoint while invited artists widen the frame. Vinuesa’s aim is not to illustrate a story, but to make listeners notice how meaning is built from detail — touch, attack, resonance, and the small decisions that turn accompaniment into authorship.

About

Francisco Vinuesa

Francisco Vinuesa (Málaga) is a flamenco guitarist whose career bridges the tablao, the festival stage, and composition for dance. He became interested in the instrument as a child and began formal study with the Málaga maestro Pedro Blanco, a formative teacher whom Vinuesa has cited as central to his discipline and approach. As a teenager he was already appearing in peñas and tablaos and reached finals in national guitar competitions, experiences that sharpened both technique and a practical knowledge of accompaniment.

Vinuesa’s professional profile has been built largely in collaboration: in Málaga and Madrid he has accompanied leading figures of cante and baile, and his work continues to be sought for projects that demand rhythmic clarity, attentive listening, and stylistic breadth. In addition to performance, he has developed a compositional voice for the stage; his musical writing has been recognized in major flamenco contexts, including an award for Best Musical Composition at the Festival de Jerez. He has also been cited in connection with Premios Max–related nominations for theatrical music.

In Viaje al centro de mí mismo, Vinuesa shifts the spotlight to the guitar itself, creating a concert-format work drawn from the experience of an accompanist who now assumes the role of protagonist.
